Characteristics and scope of cable KRPT

Electricians often have to connect mobile equipment and tools, and you need to find a cable with the appropriate class of flexibility so that its cores and insulation are not damaged during operation. Thick flexible cable allows you to connect and powerful electrical equipment. An example is the connection of a welding machine or the use of a cable from the machine to the electrode holder and mass connection. These needs arise both in everyday life and in production. Today we will talk about one of the types of such products and consider the cable KRPT, its technical characteristics and scope.

Labeling Explanation

From the marking of the conductor, you can find out about its purpose and what it consists of. MSCT stands for:

  • K - cable.
  • P is rubber. Talks about the material of which the insulation and the shell are made.
  • P - portable type. This letter indicates the possibility of "movable" installation, i.e. that during operation the equipment and devices connected to it can move. We will talk more about the scope later.
  • T is heavy.

Design features

Flexible conductors are usually made with copper conductors, since aluminum is not used to create a multi-wire core. It follows that the KRPT is a copper cable with flexible multi-wire cores, it has rubber insulation and a common sheath also made of rubber. It can be used both for internal installation and for external installation. Cable products in rubber insulation have good flexibility and protection. With the help of KRPT you can connect non-stationary electrical appliances and drive mechanisms, as well as manual power tools.

Description of characteristics

Cable KRPT is widely used and can be used to connect the load to the mains. Let's look at the main technical characteristics of the conductor:

  1. Voltage 660 / 1000V AC or DC, respectively.
  2. Permissible current load (current density) is in the range of 3-20 A / mm2.
  3. The operating temperature range is typical for cables with rubber insulation, ranging from -60 to +50 degrees Celsius. Short-term can reach 75 degrees Celsius.
  4. Depending on the cross-sectional area of the cores and their number, the outer diameter ranges from 8 to 69 mm.
  5. A number of cross-sections of veins - from 0.75 square meters. mm up to 400 sq. mm
  6. The number of cores is from 1 to 4. The protective or neutral conductor is marked yellow-green or blue, which corresponds to the international marking system. An “earth” vein can be thinner than the others, for example 3x2.5 + 1x1.5 - there are three veins of 2.5 square meters each. mm and 1 with a cross section of 1.5 square meters. mm
  7. Accordingly, the weight of the cable is from 90 to 9900 kg / km.
  8. 8 external diameters - minimum bending radius.
  9. The service life is 4 years.
  10. The composition of the insulation does not allow combustion to spread and allows the use of a cable for outdoor installation without additional protection.

KRPT is most often supplied in drums with a diameter of 10 to 22 cm, its minimum construction length is 100 m. For small batches of cable up to 100 m, coil packing is used. The cable corresponds to: GOST 13497-77 and OST 16 0.505.003-77.

Application area

KRPT cable is used wherever a mobile connection is needed. For example, on hoisting mechanisms: cranes, hoists, crane beams. It is suspended to power a moving trolley. You can also use the conductor for welding and connecting the welding machine.

In some cases, the KRPT is used to connect the control and measuring circuits. But according to its purpose and technical characteristics, it will not replace a specialized control variant of the type KVVG. In addition, this cable is suitable for extension assembly, especially if the extension cord will be used outdoors.

Homemade Three Phase Extension Cable

Installation in the open air is allowed, having fixed on cables. It cannot be mounted underground without additional protection, since there is a risk of damage to the insulation under soil pressure.

Top manufacturers

Unfortunately, KRI is discontinued, it can be replaced KG cable (cable flexible). In principle, the KG cable is a complete analog of the KRPT in technical specifications, with the exception of some of its options. At the same time, it should be noted that although KRI is discontinued, it can be bought from stocks, it is worth paying attention to the following manufacturers:

  1. Rybinsk cable.
  2. OJSC Electrocable.
  3. CAMCABLE factory.
  4. GC "SEVCABLE".

This is where we end the review of this type of conductor. Now you know the technical characteristics of the KRPT cable, the scope and main sections.
